Anti-guidebook/Brooklyn Notebook documented.

January 27, 2011

Finally photographed this project, which is my baby and which I love dearly. In some ways, a true product of the Pratt MFA program, because the input of Rebecca and Theresa improved the guidebook on a real fundamental level, so thank you, ladies.

The front cover and back cover:

A sampling of the inside. Every neighborhood of Brooklyn gets two pages devoted to it — flipping through, you realize how many neighborhoods of Brooklyn are unknown and unfamiliar to you. This project was based on Kenya Hara’s idea of the alternative guidebook proposed in the amazing book Designing Design: a guidebook which instead of leading you to the places everyone knows about in NYC, leads you to discover the city on your own.
