Everything I learned I know about design, I learned from reality TV

February 19, 2011
  • Tell a story in anything you do. (Project Runway)
  • Make it work. (As in work with whatever you have and deal with it.) (Project Runway)
  • Let the project have fantasy. (Project Runway.)
  • Craft is useful, but less important if the larger story is strong. (Project Runway)
  • Quality control, quality control, quality control. (Kitchen Nightmares)
  • Do it with love otherwise your work suffers. (Kitchen Nightmares)
  • If someone on the team doesn’t give a shit, they drag everyone down. (Kitchen Nightmares)
  • Presentation is crucial. (Kitchen Nightmares; any cooking show.)
  • Women have to work a fine line between being confident and a shrew. It sucks, but it’s the way it is. (Hell’s Kitchen)
  • Talk nice because people are always listening. (The format!)

Do you have any more?
